Job Summary
The Facilities Technician supports day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operational needs of a student housing community to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained living environment. Responsibilities include interior and exterior maintenance, preventive maintenance, work order response, inspections, building-system support (lighting, alarm panels, basic mechanical equipment, safety systems), apartment turnover repairs, minor exterior and grounds tasks, and emergency response services. The role performs plumbing, electrical, HVAC troubleshooting and repairs, appliance repair, painting, carpentry, and furniture repair; participates in a rotating 24-hour emergency on-call schedule; and assists with room setups and operational support during peak turnover periods. Requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, reliability, safety consciousness, and a service-oriented approach in interactions with residents, contractors, campus partners, and team members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1-2 years of property maintenance experience
- Experience or working knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, carpentry, or related maintenance trades
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Professionalism, adaptability, and ability to work with students, vendors, and campus partners
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency calls within 30 minutes
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work overtime during peak demand times
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and apply sound judgment
