Facilities Technician

Job Summary

Assist with event setup, teardown, and restoration across classrooms, venues, and cafeterias while moving furniture and equipment. Perform general maintenance, custodial, and grounds duties to keep the campus safe and operational. Complete recurring maintenance assignments, maintain the maintenance shop, and respond to facility requests and emergencies. Operate golf carts, utility vehicles, and tools safely while adhering to OSHA regulations and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team and support the school's mission by maintaining a positive, service-oriented attitude with students, parents, and staff. Work a full-time schedule of 40+ hours including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive physical movements throughout the workday
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely move furniture, equipment, and supplies for events and daily operations
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and other environmental conditions
  • Ability to operate computers, mobile devices, maintenance equipment, and standard office equipment as needed
  • Ability to use close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision necessary to safely perform assigned duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, vendors, and visitors
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and productive while working under pressure or responding to emergencies
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 or more hours per week, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require
  • Regular and dependable attendance
  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance, facility operations, and event support
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, golf carts, utility vehicles, hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and efficiently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a collaborative team
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond positively to unexpected operational needs
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive or proprietary information

  • Ability to properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Ability to follow established Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment by identifying and disabling all applicable energy sources
  • Ability to immediately seek guidance from a supervisor before performing unfamiliar or potentially hazardous tasks
  • Ability to support a culture of teamwork by assisting other departments and Facilities team members as operational needs require
  • Ability to maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude while interacting with students, parents, faculty, staff, vendors, and campus visitors
  • Ability to adhere to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and trainings
  • Ability to respond to facility requests, emergencies, and operational needs in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to operate golf carts, utility vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and in accordance with established operating procedures

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of consistent, verifiable work experience in facilities maintenance, custodial services, construction, or a related field
  • Previous experience in a school, commercial, or institutional environment
  • Basic woodworking and metalworking experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to supporting the mission, vision, and values of Liberty Christian School and serve as a positive Christian role model
