Job Summary
Facilities Technician at YSS oversees a range of repairs and routine maintenance for buildings, furnishings, and equipment; coordinates with the Facilities Director to drive projects and supervise contractors; manages daily work orders and a facility-management system, conducts preventive maintenance, travels to outreach operations, responds to emergencies, inventories equipment, and assists with quarterly reports and contract bidding. The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, effective communication, safety compliance, and supporting a mission-driven, youth-focused organization.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of hands-on experience in the trades (carpentry, construction, custodial work, electrical, HVAC, maintenance, painting, plumbing, etc.)
- Valid Iowa driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Trade certifications are a plus
