Job Summary
Facilities Specialist position at Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM) performing building/grounds maintenance, inspections, and repairs across TRM facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining electrical, plumbing, fire alarm and prevention systems, HVAC, lighting, security/surveillance, irrigation, and related systems; painting interior/exterior; preparing vacated units for occupancy; coordinating with volunteers and interns; supporting safety programs; and performing other duties as assigned. Schedule Monday–Friday 7am–3:30pm with travel between TRM sites, on-call duties, and operation of TRM vehicles. Requires technical school education preferred and experience in facility maintenance; strong communication, math, and problem-solving skills; ability to work with diverse teams; and valid driver’s license with TRM driving requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Technical school education preferred.
- Experience in facility maintenance and construction preferred.
- Understanding of electrical and plumbing systems preferred.
- Ability to work under close supervision, and independently as needed.
- Good computer skills.
- Skilled in clear and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication.
- Excellent listening skills and problem-solving skills.
- Competent in math skills related to construction and maintenance fields.
- Ability to exercise good judgment.
- Good mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
