Job Summary
Drive trucks, scissor lifts, and forklifts while assisting plumbers, carpenters, and electricians with general maintenance, lighting repairs, and framing work. Perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing, snow removal, and mulching alongside horticulturists, and support custodians with floor care, cleaning, and disinfection across campus buildings. Handle trash, recycling, and material transport including gravel and soil, while maintaining stairways, restrooms, and surfaces. Work second shift hours with potential overtime, irregular schedules, and on-call availability for snow emergencies and special events. Requires a valid driver's license, forklift certification, and ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and interpret instructions
- Ability to communicate both orally and in written form
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Working knowledge of computer applications related to work order systems and Microsoft Office/Office 365 programs
- Must have training and/or certification in forklift operation or become trained/certified prior to performing forklift responsibilities
- Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues
- Lifting 65 lbs. maximum, without assistance, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs
- Working off ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts at high elevations
- Travel to main campus buildings when necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a custodian
- Experience in general maintenance duties, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC
- Experience in general lawn and grounds duties
- Experience operating mechanical lifts
- Operate a plow truck
