Job Summary
Facilities Serviceperson responsible for semi-skilled custodial duties across school facilities, including cleaning cafeterias, restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, halls and outdoor areas to custodial standards. Tasks include mopping, stripping, waxing floors, emptying trash, moving furniture, replacing light bulbs and filters, dusting and maintaining equipment, operating heavy floor-care machines, and reporting supply needs. Emphasizes safety, adherence to policies, and completing projects with proper time/materials records; prior training/certification and ability to follow English instructions required.
Required Qualifications
- Complete Basic Facilities Service job-related training program and receive Basic Facilities Service certification within the probationary period of employment
- Ability to perform custodial work
- Ability to operate labor-saving devices such as shampoo and scrubbing machines, wet and dry vacuums, and other heavy labor-saving equipment used in schools
- Ability to do heavy lifting, climb ladders to replace light bulbs and filters on air conditioning equipment
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English on cleaning and equipment operation
- Ability to work well with others
- Computer skills as required for the position
- A minimum of two years of successful work experience with Broward County Public Schools as a facilities serviceperson aide
