Job Summary
Facilities Planner collaborates with Senior Facilities Planners to develop conceptual and schematic plans for university facilities, conducts space programming and analysis, writes planning reports, and presents options with recommendations. Responsibilities include applying space allocation standards, testing planning assumptions for relocations or new projects, auditing departmental space and inventories, and coordinating with campus departments, vendors, and stakeholders. Must interview representatives of UBC departments, gather requirements, and translate them into functional and programmatic information; supports master plans and master programmes, and develops move options for major renovations or new construction. Proficiency in AutoCAD and space planning software, strong communication and organizational skills, and knowledge of building and fire codes are desired. The role emphasizes collaboration, equity and inclusion, and effective stakeholder engagement within a university facilities planning context.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of five years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
