Job Summary
Oversee capital improvement projects, ensure long-term readiness of recreational assets, and maintain pool facilities in accordance with health and safety standards. Develop routine maintenance schedules, implement the Parks Master Plan, and create tracking processes for maintenance requests. Manage ongoing maintenance, inspection, and repair of parks, recreation buildings, pools, athletic fields, and playgrounds. Direct preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life cycles. Coordinate capital project timelines, budgets, and contractor performance while ensuring compliance with state and local codes. Serve as the primary point of contact for planning, execution, and inspection of all facility improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Government/Public Administration, or a related field
- two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in parks, facilities, or aquatic maintenance
- experience in a supervisory role
- ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
- ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- ability to operate maintenance and inspection equipment
- ability to climb ladders and access elevated or confined spaces
- ability to perform physically demanding tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity
- ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of best practices of parks and recreation facility management
- Knowledge of facility operations, including pool filtration systems, chemical balancing, safety regulations, and water quality control
- Knowledge of improvement planning, construction management, and facility renovation processes
- Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, technical manuals, and contract specifications
- Skill in coordinating and supervising contractors, vendors, and multi-disciplinary work crews
- Skill in preparing reports, tracking maintenance schedules, and maintaining accurate records
- Skill in effective time management and prioritization of competing assignments
- Skill in operating within allocated budgets, monitoring expenses, and forecasting capital and operational needs
- Ability to develop short- and long-term maintenance plans
- Ability to analyze problems and develop logical and practical solutions
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Desired Qualifications
- experience in overseeing large-scale capital projects, renovations, and facility improvements
- Preferred certification- CPRP/CPRE and CPO/AFO
