Job Summary
Part-time Facilities Operations Attendant 1 performs janitorial, custodial, and minor maintenance duties across municipal facilities (including ice arenas, pools, public spaces, and administrative areas). Responsibilities include cleaning tasks (dusting, washing, polishing, mopping, scrubbing, stripping/waxing floors), restroom upkeep, supplies replenishment, cleaning equipment operation, refuse/recycling tasks, outside grounds work (snow/ice removal), room set-ups for meetings and events, basic repairs (lighting, ceilings, doors, windows, furniture, appliances, sinks, toilets), pool testing, assisting with minor repairs, and helping train new staff. Emphasis on safety, positive communication, independent work, and customer service; requires Grade 12, a Building Service Worker Certificate or equivalent, Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certification, Basic First Aid, and a valid BC Class 5 license; minimum six months of related experience. The role runs Sunday to Tuesday 12:30 a.m.–7:00 a.m. with an hourly rate of $33.79 plus a 12.5% night-shift premium.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Building Service Worker Certificate or recognized equivalent
- Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
- minimum of six months’ experience in building operations and maintenance
