Job Summary
The Building Engineer (Facilities Maintenance) is responsible for completing work orders, grounds maintenance, painting, caulking, HVAC, plumbing, drywall, and electrical maintenance on buildings as needed. Essential functions include performing preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, inspecting building systems such as fire alarms and HVAC, leading troubleshooting and repair efforts, directing mechanics and contractors, and maintaining an energy management program. Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED with at least three years of building maintenance experience and have knowledge of building systems operations and repair.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of two years of related experience and/or trade school training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years building maintenance experience
- Thorough knowledge in all building systems operations, maintenance and repair
- Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required (e.g. Journeyman or Master Electrician License)
- Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques, and operations
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical and building automation systems
- Ability to understand and give general instructions in standard situations
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong customer service orientation
Additional Requirements
- May require shift work, overtime and/or on call duties
- Stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 lbs of equipment
