Job Summary
Conduct repair, maintenance, and general upkeep of RFTA facilities and capital assets, including bus maintenance facilities, Rubey Park, and office buildings. Perform preventive maintenance, ordering parts, and executing general repairs for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fueling systems. Operate vehicles and equipment such as bobcats, scissor lifts, and snowplows in strict compliance with safety protocols and traffic laws. Execute grounds maintenance duties including lawn mowing, snow and ice removal, and hazardous material cleanup. Provide general cleaning services for restrooms, office spaces, and garbage management. Assist custodial staff and serve on-call 24/7/365 to provide vacation and sick coverage for all facilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Underground Storage Tank (UST) Class C Operator Certification
- Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Certifications
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in at least two (2) of the following fields: painting, drywall, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, landscaping, heavy equipment operation, or electrical
- Experience operating equipment such as bobcat, scissor lift, dolly, pickup truck with plow, and forklift
- Valid Colorado Driver's License
- Ability to read and understand safety documents, product labels, and emergency procedures
- Basic knowledge of safe material handling and routine maintenance practices
- Proficiency in safely operating equipment associated with facilities and grounds
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor
- Knowledge of construction, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical methods
- Mechanical aptitude for operating equipment associated with facilities and grounds
- Strong communication and writing skills in English
- Basic Spanish proficiency is a plus
- Ability to adhere to departmental and organizational goals and performance standards
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Strong teamwork and adherence to the RFTA Code of Conduct
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to diagnose issues related to equipment and facilities
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, at varied shifts, and on the roadways
- Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 pounds and/or up to 50 pounds frequently
- Works in a typical industrial environment that requires frequent bending, lifting and twisting in different positions to accomplish many tasks
- May come in contact with bodily fluids on a regular basis
- Works on a regular basis with hazardous and toxic materials while strictly adhering to all safety rules and regulations pertaining to their use, storage, and proper disposal
- Personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn when appropriate
- RFTA has a Uniform Policy for the Facilities Maintenance team. Facilities Maintenance Tech is expected to adhere to this policy
- RFTA is 24/7 operation and Facilities Maintenance personnel may be required to work outside of their assigned shift
