Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

Oversee and perform routine and emergency maintenance across facilities, serving as the first point of contact for internal facility issues. Conduct inspections of company premises, handle minor repairs to building systems and equipment, and implement preventative measures to ensure operational efficiency. Perform hands-on tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, and HVAC filter replacements while maintaining inventory of repair supplies. Coordinate maintenance for company vehicles and schedule external contractors for professional repairs, updating the Director of Lab Operations on progress. Respond promptly to emergencies, adhere to safety protocols, and utilize technical manuals to resolve defects. Occasional travel to satellite locations is expected.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven as a skilled maintenance worker or similar position with 3-5 years of experience
  • Must possess the manual dexterity, strength, and physical stamina required for daily maintenance
  • Driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to lift, push, and carry up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment for tasks requiring them
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age
  • Must pass work eligibility requirements
  • Travel: Required up to 25%
  • Must be able to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms)
  • Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. Using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Strong communication skills, including written communication
  • High level organizational skills, time management skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment to consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems in a timely and positive manner
  • Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and effectively handle interpersonal relationships with others
  • Must possess visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification or degree in facilities management, building maintenance, mechanical systems, HVAC, or a related technical field
  • Familiarity with healthcare facility maintenance is a plus
  • OSHA certification or other relevant safety training is highly desirable
  • Previous experience leading maintenance projects or coordinating vendors/contractors
  • Knowledge of principles, procedures and best practices in the industry
  • Basic technology skills, including MS Office Suite
