Job Summary
Facilities Maintenance role responsible for keeping NHS facilities safe, functional, and compliant with environmental standards. Perform general building and grounds maintenance, complete assigned facilities projects, assist with the pet food pantry and special events, process work orders, maintain HVAC controls, receive deliveries, and uphold NHS core values while working in a fast-paced animal-shelter environment. Requires a high school diploma or GED, maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, ability to drive a pickup with a trailer, independent judgment, comfort working with a diverse staff, and a professional demeanor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Previous maintenance experience, required
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and be able to provide proof of vehicle insurance
- Ability to drive a pickup with a hitched trailer
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Be comfortable and skilled working with a culturally diverse staff and community
- Must be a self-starter
- Affection for animals, concern for their welfare, and willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace
- Must possess maturity, good judgment, and professional manner and personal appearance
- Must be considerate, respectful, and display a helpful demeanor to all employees, volunteers, and customers
- Must be able to work cordially, safely, and efficiently in fast-paced, stressful conditions
- Must exhibit the organization core values of compassion for all animals, respect and dignity for all, strive for excellence, and teamwork
- Ability to respectfully give and receive feedback

- Work schedule Sunday through Thursday 9:00am - 5:30pm
- Minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekend hours may be required
- Must be available to work special events
- The work environment includes exposure to animals and environmental conditions
