Job Summary
Senior Facilities Engineer to bridge the fusion demonstration system design and facility infrastructure, overseeing M&E systems (power, cooling, utilities) and coordinating with external design consultants to deliver large-scale mechanical and electrical hardware. Role involves supporting permitting, construction, and operations transitions, and may require up to 50% travel to the San Leandro facility. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers, and contractors; candidates should bring a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 10+ years in design/construction/commissioning of large facilities, plus proven experience managing consultants and complex hardware procurement. Bonus: PE license and experience in regulated research environments.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of large-scale industrial or scientific research facilities
- Proven track record managing engineering consultants and large-scale hardware procurement contracts
- Experience managing M&E infrastructure, including high-voltage power, process piping, and industrial cooling
