Job Summary
Facilities Engineer, MEP at SpaceX on a McGregor, TX-based site. Lead the project team through the MEP engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process for large capital projects, develop design documentation and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projects, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors. Coordinate with electrical utility providers for reliable power to critical site infrastructure; interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and stakeholders; perform hands-on field work in varied environments and extended hours as needed. Base responsibilities include designing and activating infrastructure across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with knowledge of HVAC, piping, power distribution, UPS, transformers, and building standards (NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC). Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, 2+ years of relevant MEP experience, and authorization per ITAR requirements; candidate must be able to travel and work at SpaceX facilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline
- 2+ years of professional experience with the design or build of MEP building systems
- Experience with electrical and power distribution systems (<600Vac)
- Knowledge of HVAC operation and design principles including refrigeration, chillers, boilers, and air handling equipment
- Experience with plumbing design and operation including domestic water, waste water, venting, and storm systems
- Working knowledge of delta/wye transformers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility grounding
- Experience with critical power infrastructure including uninterruptable power systems (UPS), backup generators, and automatic transfer switches
- Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment, under possible extended work hours and tight deadlines
- AutoCAD/Revit – Beginner to intermediate
- Familiarity with National Electric Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, and International Building Code
- Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility required
- Remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
- Valid driver’s license
- ITAR REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee or eligible to obtain authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
