Job Summary
Facilities Engineer needed for an on-site role at American Soy Products in Saline, MI to support aseptic manufacturing operations. The position focuses on maintaining facility utilities, infrastructure, and equipment, driving operational reliability, coordinating maintenance activities, and leading improvements in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and vendors. Responsibilities include safety leadership, Lean continuous-improvement projects, preventive maintenance planning, spare-parts management, documenting SOPs and maintenance procedures, coordinating audits and compliance with OSHA and food-safety standards, managing budgets and purchasing activities, and supervising maintenance personnel. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, field problem solving, and vendor/contractor engagement to sustain manufacturing performance and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in: Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Industrial Engineering; Facilities Management; Related technical field
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience within: Manufacturing or industrial environments; Facility operations and maintenance; Building systems management; Capital improvement or project management environments
- Strong understanding of: HVAC systems; Electrical distribution systems; Plumbing and compressed air systems; Preventive maintenance programs; Building automation systems; OSHA and safety regulations; Energy management practices
- Experience with Maximo or similar maintenance systems preferred; SAP experience related to purchasing, inventory, and budget tracking preferred
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication, leadership, organization, and vendor management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing within a team environment
