Job Summary
Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the facility by performing daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and disinfecting common areas, restrooms, offices, and entrances. Conduct detailed floor care using side-by-side stripping and high-speed buffing machines while preserving vinyl flooring finishes. Proactively identify and address cleaning needs to uphold sanitation standards, remove trash and debris from indoor and outdoor areas, and clear snow from the front exterior when necessary. Clean and disinfect bathrooms and high-touch surfaces in line with established hygiene protocols, ensuring proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies. Follow all safety guidelines, including protective gear and approved agents, and respond to maintenance and flood emergencies as needed. Work independently with clear communication, utilizing basic computer skills for reporting and updates.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) months of experience in custodial or related work
- Familiarity with cleaning procedures, methods, and equipment
- Ability to follow safety protocols when handling cleaning supplies and tools
- Understanding of chemical safety and ability to adhere to Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Willingness to respond to maintenance and flood emergencies as needed
- A strong sense of responsibility and pride in creating clean, safe, and comfortable spaces for others
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, with clear and respectful communication
- Openness to learning new skills, receiving feedback, and adapting to evolving needs within the facility
- Basic computer skills to support communication with supervisors or headquarters, such as submitting reports or receiving updates
- This is a full-time non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $23.65 (annualized at 35 hours a week to $43,049)
- This role is located in New York City
- has a schedule of Friday-Tuesday 11am-7pm
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with floor care preferred, including maintaining vinyl flooring using appropriate machines and chemicals to preserve finishes
- Knowledge of operating stripping and buffing machines
