Job Summary
Maintain equipment and facilities across multiple locations by managing physical plant upkeep, store equipment, and grounds. Diagnose mechanical problems, review blueprints, and implement safety protocols while performing cleaning tasks, trash disposal, and special projects like painting or carpentry. Monitor supplies, manage vendor invoices, and handle emergencies as they arise. Collaborate with the Facilities Department to ensure sites remain orderly and clean. Work 32-40 hours in a fast-paced retail environment with potential early mornings or late nights.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of custodial, maintenance or other related experience
- Thorough knowledge of construction, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or similar relevant field
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Willingness to be open, to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Regular, predictable attendance
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple demands
- Adherence to deadlines
- Must be able to work at any of our 4 sites in the Madison Metro Area
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to work early mornings or late nights
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds at times
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Facilities Assistant or Maintenance Technician
- Experience or knowledge in a grocery store or cooperative
