Job Summary
Maintain campus buildings, grounds, and equipment through routine facilities, maintenance, and snow removal tasks. Monitor facility conditions, submit project requests, and manage records for safety systems and preventive maintenance schedules. Operate power tools and light equipment while assisting senior technicians and supporting shipping and receiving activities. Prepare and restore campus areas for events and daily operations under the direction of the Manager of Facilities and Grounds. Work in all weather conditions to support 24/7 campus operations and emergency response needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Up to 1-year job-related experience in the areas of maintenance and/or facilities
- Basic understanding of facilities and grounds maintenance including snow removal and lawn care
- Good organizational skills – ability to come up with processes and follow up
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
- Safely operate and maintain power tools and equipment
- Demonstrate knowledge and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Demonstrate professional demeanor
- Ability to work with confidential material with a high level of attention to detail and discretion
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve
- Must be able to work effectively in a team-based diverse and inclusive environment
- Demonstrate effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; climbing ladders up to 20 feet; walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods; and working in all weather conditions
- Ability to orally communicate effectively with others
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staffs at all levels
- Must be able to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of applicable trades courses
- 1 - 3 years of experience with the maintenance, facilities, and monitoring of a facility operating system
