Face to Face Interpreter – Zomi / Burmese

Job Summary
Face-to-face interpreter needed for Zomi and/or Burmese languages in Central Ohio. As a contractor, you decide your own schedule with assignments available 24/7/365, most during business hours. You will interpret in medical, social service and other appointments, using bilingual skills to assist clients who speak Zomi and/or Burmese. Requirements include residing in the Central Ohio area, a high school diploma or equivalent, eligibility to work in the United States, passing a federal background check and 10-panel drug screen, proof of at least 40 hours of accredited interpreter training, and certification of bilingual proficiency or completing a 3rd party bilingual fluency evaluation. Multilingual applicants who speak English and Zomi and/or Burmese are encouraged to apply; no prior professional interpretation experience required. All communications may come via email from the applicant tracking system.
Required Qualifications
- Be located in the Central Ohio area
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Be eligible to work in the United States
- Pass a Federal Criminal Background Check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening
- Provide proof of program completion from an accredited interpreter training of at least 40 hours (e.g. Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' "Access Academy", Court Interpretation, Certificate or Degree in interpretation from an accredited college or university)
- Provide Certification of Bilingual Proficiency or pay for and complete a 3rd Party Bilingual Fluency Evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization
