Job Summary
Cut, drill, cope, and roll piping, tubing, and flex materials to manufacture vacuum jacketed pipes and hoses while maintaining safety and quality standards. Prepare pipes for welding using hand tools, table saws, band saws, and hydraulic presses, ensuring tight tolerance fits through precise cutting and trimming. Kit pre-fabricated materials and inventory items, examine parts for correct size and machining, and assemble components in established sequences. Read engineering drawings and BOMs to verify dimensional accuracy, close work orders, and coordinate paperwork for test results and shipments. Participate in Operational Excellence processes, complete RTY data recordings, and fulfill 5S requirements. Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school education
- Skill in the care and use of applicable hand and pneumatic tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of material (BOM)
- Ability to work from verbal and written instructions, drawings, diagrams and routing sheets
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, on conditions necessitating ingenuity, initiative and judgment
- Product knowledge sufficient to perform 'Principal Responsibilities' with little supervision needed
- High degree of physical and mental dexterity and visual attention for sustained period required
- Ability to detect defects in products and exercise independent judgment on repair capability
- Experience with cutting equipment such as chop saws, circular saws, band saws, or cutting wheels
- Working knowledge of shop mathematics
- Ability to work with measurement devices (ex- rulers, measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers)
- Ability to sustain moderate physical effort, working with light to medium weight material
- Lifting, bending, twisting, carrying, pushing and pulling are common and repetitious
- Concentrated mental and visual attention in working to close tolerances is required
- High degree of physical and manual dexterity and visual attention for sustained period also required
- Ability to read and understand standard work instructions
Desired Qualifications
- Previous welding experience or supporting welding functions considered a plus
- Waterjet machining experience considered a plus
