Fabricator Coordinator

Job Summary

Design, layout, and install new piping systems while coordinating fabrication projects to meet production goals and budget constraints. Repair and install production machinery and mechanical equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic, steam, and electrical systems. Diagnose equipment failures, execute emergency repairs, and operate material handling equipment including hoists, cranes, and forklifts. Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding, as well as oxyacetylene and plasma cutting, to fabricate and repair components. Read blueprints and technical drawings to complete fabrication and installation projects, collaborating with production teams and vendors to ensure requirements are met. Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe work environment through strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout procedures and food safety policies.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience
  • Experience with the layout, fabrication, and installation of threaded and welded piping systems
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, lubrication, and circulating systems, including contamination control and maintenance best practices
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and STICK welding, with emphasis on stainless steel sanitary tubing, piping, and low-pressure steam systems
  • Proficiency using oxyacetylene and plasma cutting equipment
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, OEM maintenance manuals, technical drawings, and software-based instructions
  • Knowledge of bearings, gears, seals, lubrication systems, filtration systems, power transmission components, and related mechanical equipment
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other software applications to receive, complete, and document work orders
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to become qualified to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, hoists, rigging equipment, and other lifting equipment as required
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights of up to 80 feet
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for recordkeeping, safety, and quality training
  • Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment and collaborate effectively with coworkers and management
  • Employees must provide a lockable toolbox and mechanic tool set that meets AVO's approved minimum tool list

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with sanitary stainless-steel process piping and steam systems
