Job Summary
Operate cutoff saws, CNC machines, shears, brakes, presses, and plasma cutters to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures. Read job specifications for machine adjustments and material requirements, then measure workpiece dimensions to ensure accuracy. Observe operations to detect defects or malfunctions, remove burrs and scale, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces. Frequently assist in one- or two-man operations across different work centers. Properly use the barcode system to reflect time charged to jobs. Maintain safety as a top priority while working near moving mechanical parts and handling tools.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
