Job Summary
Operate cutoff saws, CNC machines, shears, brakes, presses, forming machines, punching machines, and grinders to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures. Read job specifications for machine adjustments and material requirements, then measure workpiece dimensions to ensure accuracy. Observe operations to detect defects or malfunctions, remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces. Frequently assist in one- or two-man operations across different work centers while maintaining safety as a top priority. Properly use the barcode system to reflect time charged to jobs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision

- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to frequently work near moving mechanical parts
- Ability to be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles

- Must be able to remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece
- Must be able to properly use barcode system to reflect time charged to jobs
- Must be able to frequently go to different work centers to help where needed to assist in a one- or two-man operation
