Fabrication Welder Lead - 2nd Shift

Job Summary
Lead daily fabrication activities by assigning work, performing MIG and TIG welding, and fabricating metal components for custom control panel assemblies. Read blueprints, inspect completed work for quality compliance, and provide hands-on guidance and training to team members. Monitor production progress to ensure schedules are met, troubleshoot workflow issues, and maintain a safe, organized workspace following 5S principles. Communicate material shortages and equipment needs to leadership while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role balances direct production responsibilities with coaching in a manufacturing environment focused on custom electrical enclosures and industrial equipment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Proficient in MIG welding
- Ability to weld and fabricate various metals including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications
- Experience using fabrication tools including grinders, drills, saws, clamps, measuring tools, and layout equipment
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, measurements, tolerances, and quality standards
- Ability to work independently while providing direction and support to others
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Welding Test Required
Desired Qualifications
- Previous lead, mentor, or supervisory experience
- TIG welding experience
- Experience in electrical enclosure, control panel, industrial equipment, or custom fabrication manufacturing
- Experience with structural steel or sheet metal fabrication
- Experience training or developing less experienced welders/fabricators
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
