Job Summary
Coordinate daily fabrication and manufacturing activities by reading prints, organizing work assignments, and maintaining quality standards while working hands-on alongside the team. Serve as the acting floor leader during the General Manager's absence, troubleshoot production issues, and escalate significant operational matters. Provide technical guidance, coach team members, and identify opportunities to improve processes, safety, and equipment utilization. Operate press brakes, lasers, and saws, perform welding, and assist with material handling and customer deliveries using company vehicles. Lead by example to maintain a productive, accountable, and team-oriented environment in our growing Lafayette operation.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication prints and drawings
- Ability to use common measuring tools and understand fabrication tolerances
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability and willingness to safely operate larger company trucks and make customer deliveries as needed
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and remain actively engaged on the production floor
- Ability to safely perform fabrication work and operate equipment for which properly trained
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, climb, lift, and perform physical work consistent with a fabrication environment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous supervisory, team lead, or demonstrated informal leadership experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
- Ability to organize work, communicate priorities, provide direction, and lead by example
- Ability to build productive working relationships while maintaining accountability
- Hands-on welding and metal fabrication
- Press brake and/or laser operation
- Industrial maintenance or equipment troubleshooting
- Previous leadership within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Commercial or large-truck driving
- Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and responsibilities and step outside of your primary function when needed
