Job Summary
Verify individuals entering and exiting shelter facilities in the NYC area while implementing effective access control. Conduct verbal de-escalation of conflicts and promptly report any unusual occurrences. Navigate the facility during emergencies using strong critical thinking skills. Complete required training including de-escalation, DHS 40-hour Shelter Officer, Narcan, and Mandated Reporter courses. Maintain valid NYS Security License and F02 Certification with at least one year of shelter facility experience and CPR/First Aid certification. Work full or part-time shifts (0800x1600hrs, 1600x2400hrs, or 0000x0800) standing or patrolling the entirety of the shift. Report to Margaret Gonsalves.
Required Qualifications
- Valid NYS Security License
- F02 Certification
- 1-year Shelter Facility experience
- Valid CPR/ First aid certification
- Willingness to take de-escalation training
- Willingness to complete DHS 40-hour Shelter Officer training
- Willingness to complete Narcan training
- Willingness to complete Mandated Reporter training
- Ability to stand or conduct patrols for the entirety of the shift
- High School Diploma/GED
