Job Summary
Conduct advanced organizational-level maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on F/A-18 aircraft while performing specialized duties in Ordnance, CDI, CDQAR, QASO, or Aircraft Egress Systems. Execute operational checks, repair ordnance and egress systems, and document all maintenance actions using Navy systems to ensure compliance with Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and safety standards. Coordinate with Maintenance Control and Quality Assurance personnel to support launch and recovery operations, surge maintenance, and temporary duty assignments. Requires five years of F/A-18 experience and current or previous designation in listed specialties. Full-time position at NAS Oceana, Virginia, with rotating shifts and overtime as mission requirements dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of organizational-level aircraft maintenance experience on F/A-18 aircraft or comparable tactical military aircraft
- Current or previous qualification as one or more of the following: Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR), Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO), Ordnance Technician, Aircraft Egress Technician
- Thorough knowledge of the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) and Navy Quality Assurance procedures
- Experience performing aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance documentation
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance publications, engineering drawings, and technical directives
- Experience performing inspections following maintenance actions to ensure aircraft safety and airworthiness
- Working knowledge of aircraft ordnance systems, egress systems, and associated safety procedures (as applicable to specialty qualification)
- Experience supporting flight line operations, including launch, recovery, and aircraft servicing
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and temporary duty assignments as mission requirements dictate
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required installation access credentials
Desired Qualifications
- Former U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 maintainer
- Previous VFA or VFC squadron experience
- Current or previous CDQAR designation
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Previous experience supporting Department of Defense aviation maintenance contracts
