Job Summary
Operate blown film extruders to produce high-quality materials while monitoring quality checks, inspecting raw and processed items, and troubleshooting inconsistencies. Set up equipment for feed, speed, and temperature; unload rolls, thread materials, and perform minor maintenance and cleaning. Clean screws, bale scrap, and assist in receiving railcars by pumping raw materials into silos. Operate specialized equipment, radiation units, and forklifts to transfer boxes, while performing product and facility sanitation duties. Collect data via computer software and communicate with Production Control as needed. Work nights on a 2/2/3 rotating schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience
- 1-2 years of Windows applications
- Proven ability to perform basic math and measurement tasks
- Must be able to distinguish colours for product quality purposes
- Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management at all levels
- Must follow all safety processes and procedures
- Must be able to work overtime as scheduled
- Must be able to work every other weekend
- Able to work nights on 12-hour shifts
- Must be able to lift items up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to climb on stands, ladders and stairs
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, squat, bend, and reach overhead
- Must be able to stand on concrete floors for 12-hour shifts
- Must be able to push/pull objects
- Must be able to utilise fine manipulation skills
- Must be able to utilise communication skills to effectively express both oral and written ideas individually or in group settings
- Must be able to utilise interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups
- Must be able to drive a forklift (with training)
- Must be able to work with and around various solvents, corn starch and cleaning chemicals
- Must be able to perform Product and Facility Sanitation duties
- Must be able to serve on a Team Resource team
- Must be able to self-manage and work harmoniously in a team environment
- Must be able to perform other duties as requested or needed to support the team environment
