Extrusion Engineer

Job Summary
Support process improvements, scrap reduction, and sustaining engineering for fluoropolymer and silicone extrusion manufacturing. Provide technical troubleshooting to ensure cost, quality, delivery, and safety targets are met while leading continuous improvement projects and performing engineering analysis, DOEs, and trials. Spend over 70% of time in production areas supporting extrusion operations and participate in capital equipment planning, procurement, design, and qualification. Collaborate with maintenance and operations to ensure safety compliance, deliver design for manufacturability input for new product development, and maintain extrusion parts lists and tooling documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- A minimum of 2-5 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ideally aerospace or similar industry experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Able to explain complex operations and methods clearly and concisely to other employees, suppliers, and customers
- Co-operates with others and treats all with respect
- Accepts responsibility for own actions
- Willingly accepts feedback from others
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day
- Must frequently use hands to handle objects and communicate verbally
- Must be able to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop
- Must occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
- Must have specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must wear ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas
- Must wear Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas
- Must wear hearing protection in specific locations
- Must qualify as US Persons (US Citizens or Permanent Residents/Green Card Holders)
- Must be able to legally work in the United States
- Must not require sponsorship
- Must be available for approximately <5% of travel
- Must be able to work in a clean facility housing machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards
- Must be able to work in an environment with ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic hazards
- Must be able to work with engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs
- Must be able to work with personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hand protection
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with extrusion, particularly fluoropolymer
- Experience or knowledge of LSS tools
- Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries
- Conversational ability in any other language
- Utilizes formal problem-solving methodologies (RCA, PDCA, 8D, DMAIC, etc.)
