EXTRUDER OPERATOR (8619)

Job Summary
Operate dry mixing, extruding, grinding, and transfer systems to produce pellets with specific granulation profiles, adjusting steam, water, and ingredient flows to maintain moisture, color, bulk density, and cellular structure. Perform on-line quality checks for moisture, pH, and sieving using statistical data, while completing shift reports, work orders, and GMP sanitation documentation. Conduct basic maintenance including oiling, sieve repair, and belt changes, and adhere to OSHA safety protocols like LOTO and machine guarding. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot equipment, solve process issues, and train incoming personnel, ensuring overall extrusion operation performance and food safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent
- At least 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Experience preferably in a milling environment
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
- At least 18 years of age
- Basic math skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
- Technology proficient to include use of computers and two-way radio communications
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
- Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to safely work at heights over 20'
- Must be able to climb ladders and platforms
- Must be able to enter confined spaces
- Must be able to wear all safety equipment
- Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time
