EXTRACTIONS CHEMIST (3RD SHIFT)

Job Summary
Conduct initial screening testing by ELISA and EIA, prepare specimens for LDTD initial testing, and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory instruments. Locate and follow SOPs, maintain a clean and secure environment for specimens and inventory, and identify instrument errors to perform corrective actions. Document incidents, review data to initiate reanalysis as needed, and lead or train new employees in screening areas. Work Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00am to 8:30am. This role supports USDTL's mission to protect newborns and at-risk populations through forensic toxicology testing of drug and alcohol exposure.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA degree majoring in one of the chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology sciences
- 16 semester hours of chemistry, which included at least 6 semester hours in inorganic/general chemistry
- 16 semester hours of biology courses
- 3 semester hours of mathematics
- in-house laboratory training
- Schedule Tuesday through Saturday 12:00am to 8:30am
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with documenting chain of custody
- Experience with using ChemWare Horizon
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication and time management skills
