Job Summary
Senior External Communications Manager responsible for shaping and delivering high‐impact external storytelling across traditional and digital media. Leads media relations, develops proactive media strategies aligned to enterprise priorities and innovation launches, and drives digital‐first storytelling. Partners with content, social, and digital teams to translate earned media moments into owned content; applies analytics to optimize storytelling and channel mix. Oversees spokesperson preparation, media materials, and interviews; monitors coverage and external trends to provide leadership with insight‐driven recommendations. Role supports digital technology, innovation, and transformation topics, and requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and agency partners to extend reach. Hybrid role based in Naperville, IL or Saint Paul, MN; base compensation ranges from $120,500 to $180,700 with potential bonus; immigration sponsorship not available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 10 years of professional experience
- 7 years of experience in agency communications, external communications, media relations, or related fields
- Experience in journalism is highly regarded
- Proven track record securing high‐quality earned media and managing complex media relationships
- Strong writing, storytelling, and message development skills across formats and audiences
- Experience working in a fast‐paced, matrixed, global organization
