Job Summary
External Relations Intern at UNHCR Kuwait focusing on donor relations, fundraising and communications. Core duties include drafting routine correspondence, reports and briefing notes; collecting and maintaining information on government developments; assisting in high-level missions, workshops, and government meetings; coordinating preparations for strategic dialogues and senior visits; supporting internal coordination and information flow; maintaining timely communication with government authorities, UNCT, and external partners; contributing to information materials for public awareness campaigns and newsletters; monitoring local media; coordinating with other UN agencies; organizing and prioritizing tasks independently. Ideal candidate is a recent graduate or current student with interest in partnerships, CSR, media, protection, policy and refugee/displacement issues, proficient in English and Arabic, and with strong computer skills. Six-month internship based in Kuwait with an allowance per UNHCR policy; eligibility criteria include field studies in relevant disciplines and two years of university study; travel arrangements responsibility rests with interns.
Required Qualifications
- Recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate program from a university or higher education facility
- Fields encouraged: media, communications, politics, international relations, development studies, law, business or other relevant disciplines
- Strong verbal and written English and Arabic
- Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; graphic design preferred)
- Completed at least two years in university or fresh graduate (no more than one year after degree)
