Job Summary
Deliver and evaluate educational programs in crop production, livestock, range, wildlife, agricultural economics, water quality, and conservation for Nacogdoches County. Provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs, small business owners, and landowners on financial resources, business planning, and grant writing. Teach community-based programs on small business lending, government contracting, and youth entrepreneurship through workshops and various teaching methods. Collaborate with county agencies, non-profits, and stakeholders to integrate local needs into economic development strategies. Assist in marketing the Systems Unit via internet radio blogs, media interviews, and publications. Plan, implement, and report impact evaluations to document program effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
- Technical competence in appropriate subject matter and the ability to apply this knowledge to the solution of problems
- Understanding of the learning and development processes of youth and adults
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods to provide effective learning experiences
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to reside in county
- Have access to a personal vehicle
- Obtain or maintain a valid Texas Driver's License
- Appropriate insurance coverage
- Ability to travel connected with official duties (including attendance at meetings or events that may take place during the night, weekend or out-of-county)
- Subject to a criminal history investigation
- Employment contingent upon the institution's verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution's procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Three or more years of experience in teaching, research or in a related field in areas such as family and consumer sciences, family and community health, home economics, social sciences, childhood obesity, health and wellness, nutrition and parenting, mental health, life skills parenting, marriage and family relations, juvenile justice, public service and/or dietetics
