Job Summary
Implement planned educational programs and activities in assigned program areas addressing critical issues and emerging needs in Brooks County. Identify, recruit, and train local volunteer leaders to serve on committees, clubs, and organizations. Utilize diverse teaching methods and strategies to conduct educational programs while coordinating with committees, task forces, and other agencies to plan initiatives. Develop comprehensive outcome and output program plans, evaluation strategies, and regularly prepare monthly, annual, and special reports to demonstrate results. Maintain appropriate communications with county, district, and administrative staff; conduct multiple interpretation events for elected officials; and develop long-range professional improvement plans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
- Technical competence in appropriate subject matter and the ability to apply this knowledge to the solution of problems
- Understanding of the learning and development processes of youth and adults
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods to provide effective learning experiences
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to reside in county
- Have access to a personal vehicle
- Obtain or maintain a valid Texas Driver's License
- Appropriate insurance coverage
- Ability to travel connected with official duties (including attendance at meetings or events that may take place during the night, weekend or out-of-county)
- Ability to comply with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Affirmative Action Plan of Prairie View A&M University
- Pass a criminal history investigation
- Verification of credentials
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Three or more years of experience in teaching, research or in a related field in areas such as family and consumer sciences, family and community health, home economics, social sciences, childhood obesity, health and wellness, nutrition and parenting, mental health, life skills parenting, marriage and family relations, juvenile justice, public service and/or dietetics
