Job Summary
Ensure a smooth transition for students from the school day to the extended day program and assist with personal care needs including feeding, toileting, and safety management. Implement accommodations, support behavior plans and IEPs, and run intervention programs using positive reinforcement and designated breaks. Facilitate social opportunities with peers, support assistive technology and PECS systems, and accompany students on field trips. Maintain student data as directed and rotate between Cunniff, Hosmer, and Lowell schools based on enrollment needs. Work minimum 3 days per week from 2:15 to 6:00 PM with preference for 5 days.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of experience working with school-age children
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Annual Watertown Public Schools Required Trainings
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or coursework towards a degree
- At least one year of special education experience
- Preference for 5 days/week, 2:15-6:00 PM schedule
- Additional hours on district elementary early release days, 12:00-6:00 PM
- Monthly Community Education Meetings
- Attend annual mandatory program orientation and training days
- Annual Professional Development Requirement
