Job Summary
Create and maintain lessons plans based on the DOE Creative Curriculum while partnering with an Assistant Teacher to help children meet developmental and academic goals. Observe children's behaviors, maintain educational records, and ensure all documentation on children and families is current, complete, and confidential. Provide a nurturing, safe, and healthy environment that supports social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth appropriate for each child's age and stage. Work with diverse families to engage them in their children's education and practice professional communication to build respectful relationships with staff.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- NYS Teaching Certification
- A minimum of two exemplary experiences in an Early Childhood Setting
- Demonstrated capacity in planning classroom activities
- Demonstrated capacity in observing children's behaviors
- Demonstrated capacity in maintaining educational records
- An ability to provide students with a nurturing, safe, and healthy environment
- Good interpersonal skills
- Possess basic knowledge of child development including typical and atypical language, cognitive, motor, social, and self-help skills development
- Experience working with groups and/or families from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds
- Practice professional and effective interpersonal communication skills
- Nurturing character that enables the building of a respectful, trusting and loving relationship with children and their families
- Ethical and professional conduct that enables the building of a respectful, trusting and collaborative relationship with the center staff
