Job Summary

Oversee 10-20 students during aftercare, clubs, and camp programming at St. Mark's Episcopal School by interacting with students, playing music, developing challenges, and leading games. Prepare snacks and activities prior to arrival, check in/out students, and monitor basic medical information like allergies. Produce an encouraging environment for homework and reading while ensuring students remain respectful to instructors and classmates. Provide social-emotional support using Conscious Discipline measures for redirection and manage behavior in a constantly moving environment. Report concerns, incidents, emergencies, and supply requests to leadership. Maintain clean classrooms, playgrounds, and shared spaces upon departure. Work intermittently from 2:30 pm to 6 pm Monday through Friday, with opportunities for additional hours during Staycation and Seasonal Camps.

Required Qualifications

  • 18+ years old
  • Experience with children
  • At least one year of work, volunteer, or organization participation experience
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead
  • Ability to work in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment
  • Ability to work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
  • Ability to navigate a constantly moving environment with moderate supervision
  • Ability to provide social-emotional support to students
  • Ability to utilize Conscious Discipline measures for redirection and behavior management
  • Ability to check in/out students and stay informed about basic medical information such as allergies
  • Ability to produce an encouraging environment that ensures active student participation in homework and reading time
  • Ability to ensure students are being responsible and respectful to both instructors and fellow classmates
  • Ability to ensure classroom, playground, and shared spaces are clean and reset upon departure from the area
  • Ability to report concerns, incidents, emergencies, and supply requests to Extended Care leadership
  • Ability to follow all school rules and expectations
  • Ability to be responsible for checking in/out all assigned technology
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods
  • Ability to work from 2:30 pm- 6 pm, Monday-Friday
  • Opportunity for additional hours during the school's Staycation and Seasonal Camps during holidays off from school
  • Ability to oversee 10-20 students along with a co-teacher

  • A copy of your college transcript
  • A completed and signed Background inquiry release
  • Evidence of citizenship or a legal work permit
  • Consent to drug and alcohol screening tests
