This opportunity targets software development in multiple domains within Walt Disney Animation Studios' Production Technology department, focusing on designing and implementing innovative workflows and state-of-the-art solutions for animated content. Engineers in this team partner closely with artists, production leadership, and technical directors to develop core infrastructure, build APIs for artist-facing tools, and extend existing libraries for end-user tool creation. The role involves creating new user interfaces, integrating external DCCs, writing plugins for third-party apps, and devising artist dashboards to improve productivity and show velocity.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with C++ (including x11/x14)
- Strong experience with Python or equivalent experience
- Strong experience with Qt (for desktop development) or equivalent experience
- Experience with USD (Universal Scene Description)
- Experience with developing threaded libraries and applications using TBB
- At least 5 years experience designing and developing interactive tools
- Good sense of user interface/software design
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field; or comparable industry experience
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field; or comparable industry experience
- Strong experience writing testable code
- Experience working with a Product Design/UX Engineering team
- Experience in the computer animation process (eg. games/films/visual effects)
