Export Control Officer

Job Summary

Administer and maintain the company export compliance program in accordance with EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and other U.S. export control regulations. Manage import and export compliance activities, conduct export classifications including ECCN and USML determinations, and review international transactions for regulatory adherence. Determine export license requirements, perform restricted party screening, and oversee customs clearance processes for inbound and outbound shipments. Prepare customs declarations, EEI filings, and related documentation while maintaining all compliance records. Coordinate with brokers and logistics providers, audit trade compliance activities, and support regulatory inquiries. Serve as the site subject matter expert for export controls and trade compliance, partnering with Engineering, Procurement, and Legal to ensure compliant international business operations. Monitor regulatory changes, implement policy updates, and deliver training to staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, Compliance, Logistics, Engineering, Criminal Justice, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in export compliance, customs compliance, international trade, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and U.S. Customs regulations
  • Experience with export classifications, ECCN determinations, and export licensing
  • Experience with restricted party screening and export compliance risk assessments
  • Knowledge of technology transfers and deemed exports
  • Experience with customs entry processes, tariff classification, valuation, and origin determinations
  • Familiarity with ACE, AES, ERP systems, and trade compliance tools
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
  • Professional export compliance certification (ECoP, CES, CUSECO, or equivalent)
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or technology environments
  • Experience working with BIS, DDTC, OFAC, and U.S. Customs
  • Knowledge of sanctions compliance and anti boycott regulations
