Job Summary
Handle, store, and transport explosives, propellants, and pyrotechnics in accordance with safety regulations. Assist in the setup and execution of explosive tests and experiments, including assembling, disassembling, and modifying experimental systems. Perform diagnostic testing, record data using instrumentation, and conduct pre- and post-test inspections. Operate and maintain equipment for mixing and handling energetic materials while conferring with engineers to resolve technical problems. Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in laboratories and test sites. Work within the Energetics and Warheads Directorate at Picatinny Arsenal. Requires US citizenship, Secret clearance, and a valid NJ driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- ability to obtain a Secret clearance through the DoD security background investigation process
- Pass drug and alcohol testing
- good mechanical skills
- minimum 5 years of experience
- High School diploma
- 5 years experience
- valid driver's license
- ability to obtain a government driver's license
- physically able to handle materials up to 50 lbs
- ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must be a team player
- able to multitask
- prioritize accordingly
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have a valid NJ driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in handling explosives, ammunition, or other hazardous materials
- Knowledge of DoD and Army safety regulations for explosives (e.g., DoD 4145.26-M)
- High standard of quality and efficiency with an unwavering focus on safety
- certification from a military or civilian EOD/UXO school
- Past or present military personnel
- Knowledge of weapons and firearms
