Job Summary
Lead Explosives Research experiments and hydrodynamic tests, plan and execute explosive-driven experiments, develop experimental requirements, perform diagnostics and data analysis, QA of experimental setups, interpret results, and present findings. Role involves traveling to project sites, collaboration with scientists and technicians, and potential hybrid work arrangement after probation. Requires Bachelor’s in physics/engineering or related field, hands-on experimental experience, ability to manage complex projects, strong communication, and U.S. citizenship for security clearance. SES-level responsibilities include advanced diagnostics, multi-physics modeling, and leadership of a multidisciplinary team depending on level; security clearance and citizenship are prerequisites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Experience performing hands-on experimental science in bench top and/or test facility environments.
- Experience managing medium-sized or larger technical projects.
- Experience working effectively in independent and in a multi-disciplinary, team-based-research environment.
- Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to work with a wide range of personalities in team environments.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills for presenting and explaining experimental design.
