Job Summary
Exploration Geologist needed for a field-based role in Idaho to conduct geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and integration of field observations with geophysical datasets to support exploration targeting. Primary field work in rugged remote terrain around Salmon, Idaho, with potential support for drill programs and core logging. Responsibilities include detailed geological mapping and structural interpretation, soil/rock chip/channel sampling, lithology description, data interpretation to aid targeting, drill program planning support, and QAQC of samples. Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) for compiling field data; ability to operate GPS and navigation tools; capable of working in small teams, maintaining field notes, and contributing to internal technical reports. Physical endurance for hiking, lifting up to 50 pounds, operating 4x4/UTV vehicles, and long days outdoors in varied weather. Preference for experience with geological mapping, geochemical sampling, ArcGIS/QGIS, drill core logging, and safety certifications (First Aid, 4WD, UTV). Pre-employment physicals and background checks required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
- Experience in mineral exploration or field geology, ideally early career level
- Strong field geology skills including mapping and rock identification
- Ability to work safely and effectively in remote field environments
- Valid driver’s license
