Job Summary
Design and develop vehicle body structures and components, including side bodies, floors, roofs, and structural parts. Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings while performing GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and design validation. Coordinate with manufacturing, tooling, welding, CAE, quality, and suppliers to ensure designs meet assembly, safety, and customer requirements. Conduct DFM/DFA studies, support prototype development and testing, and resolve design issues related to BIW components. Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and design specifications in alignment with automotive standards.
Required Qualifications
- 3–8 years
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Production Engineering or related field
- Automotive
- Strong knowledge of Automotive BIW design and development
- Good understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of spot welding, laser welding, hemming and joining processes
- Good knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up
- Experience with CAD tools such as CATIA V5, Siemens NX, Creo or similar
- Knowledge of BOM, engineering drawings and product lifecycle/change management
- Understanding of BIW manufacturing and assembly processes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with OEM/Tier-1 automotive projects
- Knowledge of BIW architecture and vehicle body structure
- Experience in working with suppliers and manufacturing teams
- Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA and basic automotive quality standards
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and coordination skills
