Job Summary
Expert Support Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions across on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP). Develop DR plans including failover/failback and recovery testing, monitor and troubleshoot backup/recovery operations to meet RPO/RTO, conduct regular DR drills, and document lessons learned. Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance. Automate backup processes using scripting languages/tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible). Maintain comprehensive documentation of procedures, configurations, schedules, and escalation protocols. Analyze system health to optimize performance and capacity planning. Participate in incident response for data loss or outages. Stay current with backup and DR technologies and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in backup and disaster recovery engineering
- Hands-on experience with backup solutions such as Commvault, Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, Dell EMC Avamar, or Azure Backup
- Experience in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid infrastructures
- Strong understanding of data protection principles, encryption, retention policies, and compliance frameworks
- Experience in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, etc.)
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work across teams
