Job Summary
Conduct hands-on crop production support for small and medium-sized horticulture enterprises globally, specializing in tissue culture, open field vegetables, soft fruit, or nursery fruit trees. Translate technical knowledge into practical project plans while empowering entrepreneurs toward sustainable, inclusive business development. Operate as a sparring partner in culturally diverse settings, either on location for two-week site visits or remotely via Microsoft Teams. Share expertise to leave lasting social, environmental, and economic impacts on communities worldwide. Matched with up to three projects annually, this voluntary role requires Dutch residency, basic health insurance, and VOG prescreening.
Required Qualifications
- relevant experience in horticulture
- hands-on expertise in crop production
- crop-specific knowledge
- expertise in one of the following areas: Tissue culture
- expertise in one of the following areas: Open field vegetables production such as leafy greens, cabbage, beans, carrots, etc. (production, post-harvest aspects, processing)
- expertise in one of the following areas: Soft fruit such as strawberries, blueberries or raspberries (production, post-harvest aspects)
- expertise in one of the following areas: Nursery fruit trees (temperate and tropical fruit crops)
- excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing
- comfortable with digital tools, including Microsoft Office 365
- reside in the Netherlands
- registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP)
- have Dutch basic health insurance
- pass Prescreening (VOG)
