Job Summary
Lead the definition and evolution of end-to-end system architectures for utility-scale, commercial & industrial, and emerging high-power applications such as AI data centers. Translate evolving application, grid, and market requirements into system-level specifications, reference architectures, and optimized product configurations. Research and develop advanced energy storage system topologies covering battery configuration, DC distribution, power conversion, protection, and thermal management. Develop AC- and DC-coupled system architectures while ensuring architectural coherence from grid connection down to the battery and DC subsystem. Drive cross-disciplinary integration of battery systems, PCS, DC/DC converters, and plant-level control to support prototype development, CHIL/PHIL testing, and system-level validation. Collaborate with headquarters research teams and external partners to develop future technology roadmaps and translate advanced research into practical product solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Energy Systems, Control Engineering or a closely related field
- 10+ years of industrial or applied R&D experience in battery energy storage, grid-scale power conversion, power systems or similarly complex electrical energy systems
- demonstrated senior or principal-level technical responsibility
- Deep expertise in BESS electrical architecture, power conversion and grid integration
- strong system-level understanding of batteries and BMS, DC/DC converters, PCS/inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection, thermal management, automation and plant-level control
- Proven experience defining complex system architectures, reference architectures, system requirements, subsystem interfaces or high-level technical specifications
- Strong capability to translate grid, market and application requirements into system architecture and component-level technical specifications
- Solid expertise in power electronics, grid-connected energy storage, grid codes, grid-forming technologies and coordinated control of complex multi-converter systems
- Strong experience in system modeling and simulation for architecture design and optimization, using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PLECS, PowerFactory or comparable tools
- Experience in architecture trade-off analysis considering efficiency, reliability, availability, safety, lifetime, scalability, performance and total cost of ownership
- Proven technical leadership and project management experience
- ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive complex R&D projects from concept and prototyping toward product implementation
- Strong communication skills
