Job Summary
Grind, smooth, and finish welded metal components by removing excess material, slag, and imperfections using hand and power grinders. Blend welds to create seamless, professional finishes on steel products while reading blueprints, work orders, and production drawings. Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and cosmetic appearance, and safely operate grinders, sanders, and other fabrication tools. Collaborate with welders and fabrication teams to meet production deadlines, maintaining a clean work area and following all safety procedures. This role supports a manufacturer specializing in architectural doors, frames, hardware, and specialty metal products, offering a temp-to-hire opportunity with weekly pay and overtime availability in Mobile, AL.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a weld grinder, metal finisher, or fabrication technician
- Ability to use angle grinders, die grinders, flap wheels, and finishing tools
- Ability to read a tape measure and basic fabrication drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Reliable transportation
- Dependable attendance
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
