Experienced Water / Wastewater Design Engineer

Job Summary

Contribute to the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities for public and industrial clients, developing civil, mechanical, and electrical layouts, piping plans, and process diagrams. Prepare engineering analyses, including feasibility studies, hydraulic evaluations, and equipment sizing, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions from concept through construction. Support occasional fieldwork, site visits, and system commissioning activities, and prepare technical reports, specifications, and proposals to support project delivery. Requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, 7+ years of experience, and a valid U.S. driver's license. This role is hybrid and onsite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental)
  • At least 7 years of experience in the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and conveyance projects
  • Experience preparing engineering design packages (including calculations, technical specifications, and design drawings) for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in the same
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or progress toward licensure
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary coordination involving process, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls design
  • Experience with treatment process evaluation, hydraulic analysis, and equipment sizing and selection for municipal or industrial water and wastewater systems
  • Demonstrated ability to support projects through multiple phases of delivery, including planning, preliminary and detailed designs, permitting support, and construction-phase services
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team across the water practice
